Tasting wine in Tuscany: discovering two wineries

The region so rich in opportunities in terms of food and wine there is only the embarrassment of choice. That’s why we at Tuscan Secret Experience decided to present you today the production of two wine cellars that represent an excellence in the area. Let’s find out what they told us about the Cantina di Argiano and the Cantina Tolaiani through an interview about their wine.

Interview with Cantina di Argiano

Where does your desire to produce wine come from?

Argiano has been producing wine for five centuries. The need, over the years, has become a mission, the continuation of the tradition and vocation of these lands. Nowadays we feel the duty to refine, more and more, what has been the soul of Argiano and the results obtained give us the energy to go further.

2. What are the unique characteristics that distinguish your products and what is the wine that best represents you?

The uniqueness of the lands, their essence and their character that we then find in the wines. Each product must be linked to its area of origin and we try to bring back our style and our terroir in the bottle. Brunello di Montalcino is the highest expression of uniqueness and personality.

3. Organic, biodynamic and conventional wine? What do you think?

Respect wine. What is considered conventional is the result of an exaggerated exploitation perpetuated in the last century. We believe in sustainable cultivation, no fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. We want our vines to grow healthy, to fight, to express themselves through a living, not sterile soil. We want biodiversity, we believe in enhancing the uniqueness of the territory and we often weave our values with the definitions of “organic” and “biodynamic” but we believe in our identity of respect for nature and enhancement of the personality of our wines

4. Projects for the future?

So many, every day we have something new. We are renovating the 16th century villa by the end of 2016, we have restored the old vines and built a new underground cellar. In 2020 we will also release the Brunello di Montalcino Vigna del Suolo, our first single vineyard that will be our highest expression.

Interview with Cantina di Tolaini (Alberto Fusi, General Director)

Where did your desire to produce wine come from?

Born from the passion of the Owner Pier Luigi Tolaini. After a long wandering in 1998 he identified in Chianti Classico, more precisely in the prestigious area of Castelnuovo Berardenga, two plots where the balance between climate, soil and exposure is ideal. These are the farms of Montebello, a perfect natural amphitheater, and of San Giovanni.
2. What are the unique characteristics that distinguish your products and what is the wine that best represents you?

Tolaini is a winery that combines ancient wisdom with modern methods of wine production. We are proud to cultivate our grapes by practicing sustainable agriculture that respects the environment and the biodiversity of our land. The most representative wine is Picconero, an oenological transposition of the owner’s dream.
