Welcoming Brunello Wine Lovers :15-19 february 2019
Has held the event called “BENVENUTO BRUNELLO” during the month of February in Montalcino for over 25 years.
Amongst the major wine events in Italy each year, Benvenuto Brunello is one of the most exciting previews! This preview (or in Italian anteprima) marks its 27th year presenting the famous Brunello di Montalcino wines in southern Tuscany.
Benvenuto Brunello is organized by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino; since its DOC recognition in 1967, it has served as a promoter and protector of the wine and its characteristics. This is the first Brunello fair of the year, and held in Montalcino, it’s also the most representative of the production area.
Benvenuto Brunello will take place in Montalcino from February 15-19, 2019 in the picturesque setting of the Complesso di Sant’Agostino, centrally located in town (behind the church of Sant’Agostino and not far from the Fortezza). Given that Montalcino is mostly pedestrian and parking is at a premium, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and prepare for the long walk there!
The Consortium’s flagship event has always been that of “Benvenuto Brunello”, which sees the presentation of the new Brunello di Montalcino vintage, alongside other local wines with denomination of origin, launched on the market at the start of the new year. Alongside the presence of producers of Montalcino, the event has always welcomed Italian and foreign journalists, those involved in the sector and wine enthusiasts.
Benvenuto Brunello also sees the announcement of the Stars given for the most recent Brunello harvest, with the laying of the commemorative plaque on the wall of the historic Town Hall of Montalcino. Last, but by no means least, Benvenuto Brunello represents the perfect occasion on which to award the Leccio d’Oro to restaurants and wine shops that stand out, in Italy and around the world, for their wide and representative range of Brunello di Montalcino.
